Cellulite is nothing to be ashamed of. That's a fact. It's also a fact that over 80% of women have cellulite. So while you're obsessing over the perfectly smooth bikini-clad bodies you're seeing popping up all over your Instagram page there are a few things you should consider. First of all: photoshop. Second of all: models and influencers are able to dedicate more time and money to getting expensive treatments because, at the end of the day, their job is to look good in front of a camera. So when you're scrolling through your social media be kind to yourself and consider that you probably have other things you need to prioritise, like work, studies or your family. That being said, it's perfectly normal to want to look your best and feel as confident as possible with the start of summer and the much-anticipated bikini season. Here are some quick and affordable solutions you can try in the comfort of your own home.
Dry brush for circulation and lymphatic drainage
Not only is this old Scandinavian ritual great for getting rid of dead skin cells, it also improves circulation and promotes lymphatic drainage. Lymphatic drainage is a process where you move the excess fluid stored in the body to points known as lymph nodes so that it can be eliminated naturally. You can do this by taking a bristle brush and brushing upwards in short sweeping motions in the direction of your heart. It's important to remember to be gentle when doing this to avoid irritation. You should dry brush before showering so that you can wash away any dead skin cells after. If you want to take things up a notch I would recommend taking a warm shower and then taking your water down to its coldest setting for a minute. Not only will this do wonders for your circulation and skin health, it also gives you a great burst of energy!
Use targeted products

Who remembers those creams that used to make your skin burn and your eyes water? The 2010s were populated with creams promising to make your cellulite disappear, but the only thing I remember disappearing when I used them was my ability to sit down for 2 hours. Luckily, times have changed and we now have a wide range of products available which both deliver better results and are better for your skin. I love using products which focus on creating the most effective formula by combining natural ingredients. My favourite is the Apivita Rose Pepper line. I'm a sucker for anything which smells like roses so at first I bought the cream for the scent alone, then I realised how tight and smooth my skin was looking after a few weeks of using it. I now also use the Apivita Rose Pepper Shower Gel for a refreshing, energy-boosting effect followed by the Apivita Rose Pepper Cream. This line uses pink pepper, artichoke extract and green coffee (along with many other great ingredients) to give you the smoothest skin possible while strengthening and anti-ageing the skin.
Take care of your body from the inside out
It goes without saying that your diet affects the way that you look. Eating less salty, processed foods, drinking less sugary beverages and exercising more frequently are all going to have a positive effect. But something which isn't talked about enough is how your perception of yourself affects the way you look. If you're constantly talking about your body in a negative way then you'll never see the results you want because you're always going to be comparing yourself to others. Remember that speaking kindly to yourself and surrounding yourself with positive messages and affirmations will have a more lasting effect than any other remedy. Unfollow the people on your social media feed who make you feel bad about yourself and fill it with positive accounts.
